TRANSITION (4-5 years old)

There is a natural flow from Kindergarten into the Transition Class and at the age of 4 years, children move into full time education. Children continue to enjoy carefully structured play activities within the classroom and have plenty of opportunities to explore the unique outdoor environment. All children will read, write and use numbers each day to develop independent writing skills. We follow the guidelines of the EYFS. The planning is based on the six areas of learning set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage document, published by the DCFS. The curriculum covered in Transition, through the six areas of learning Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy, Communication, Language & Literacy, Creative Development, Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Physical Development, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, are incorporated through a wide range of exciting, stimulating and challenging themes and topics.

Specialist teachers enhance their development in weekly PE, Music and Drama lessons.
